Hello  - here's your latest helping of

This week we're sharing three articles that we think you'll enjoy reading. In our first post our Chairman, Andy Jervis, considers recent comments made by German entrepreneur Rainer Dniger about the German pension system, and looks at how it compares to what's happening in the UK. We think you'll find it interesting to see that the issues we face in the UK are not unique to us.

Our second article is also about your state pension but this time making sure you're making the most of your allocation. The amount you are awarded when you claim your state pension is dependent on your National Insurance record. A variety of life situations can create a gap in your record such as pausing work to raise your child or due to illness. Read our article to find out more and how to take advantage of the extended window to fill in gaps that's open until the end of this current tax year.

Our last article for this newsletter shares some wonderful memories of meeting our late Queen from two of our clients, Robert and David. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did, and a big thank you to them both for sending them in. If you have a memory you'd like to share please send them in and we'll add them to the post.

As always, if you have a comment or a story you'd like to share please get in touch. Email Jenny at marketing@chestertonhouse.co.uk, or give us a call on 01509 610472.

Chairman Andy Jervis compares the situation with what's happening in the UK and finds that German pension problems are not unique.

Don't Miss a Window of Opportunity to Top Up Your State Pension

In our conversations with clients it's not uncommon for them to underestimate the value of the State Pension. But in the current high inflationary and uncertain market environment, this guaranteed, index-linked income is an invaluable benefit and one that forms a significant part of an individual's future retirement income.

Between now and April 2023 there is an extended window to top up any gaps in your NI record. Read our post to find out more.
