In our last newsletter before we break for Christmas, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to you all for being part of the Chesterton House community: joining us at our events, sending us your stories and for your thoughtful gifts throughout the year. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful start to 2023.

As a reminder, our offices close on Friday 23rd December and reopen on Tuesday 3rd January. We look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.

This week we share the news that Citywire's New Model Adviser publication recently announced their list of the Top 35 Next Generation Financial Planners in the UK and two of our Team made the list! You can find out more in our article below.

We also report the sad news that Ian Taylor, one of the founders of Transact, recently passed away. Andy Jervis, Chesterton House Chairman, attended his memorial gathering and came away feeling inspired by the stories shared about this larger than life character. Andy offers his reflections on the memorial below.

We also have a reminder about our search for Trustees for our new Foundation, a reminder to complete our survey (with a chance to win a lovely New Year hamper), pictures of our entries for local Christmas Tree Festivals, and other news. Read on to learn more!

If you have any comments or stories that you'd like to share with us please send Jenny an email at marketing@chestertonhouse.co.uk or give us a call on 01509 610472.

A Giant of a Man

Ian Taylor was a giant of a man, not just in his formidable stature, but in his intellect, his foresight, his sense of humour and his love of people. We got to know Ian as one of the founders of Transact, the primary investment platform that we have used to manage our clients' financial lives for the last two decades. Sadly Ian passed away recently. Andy Jervis, Chesterton House Chairman, gives his account of Ian's memorial gathering.

Chesterton House Foundation

Last week we shared the exciting news about our new Foundation, and we've had lots of enthusiastic comments about this initiative.  Visit our website to read more about What, the Why and the Who behind the charity.

Our Team have been very enthusiastic about supporting the new Foundation, and some of them have voluntarily stepped forward as Trustees. To ensure the independence of the Board we are now inviting applications from individuals who are interested in serving as a Trustee. If this sounds like something you'd like to be involved in, click here to apply. We're closing applications on 3rd January. If you'd like to know more about the role please ask and we'll be happy to guide you. If you've never been a Trustee before we'll be providing training and guidance as we get under way.

Christmas Tree Festivals 2022

Rotary Shepshed at St Botolph's Church, Shepshed

On 26th and 27th November the Shepshed Rotary Club held their annual Christmas Tree Festival and we were delighted to enter a tree for Woolley, Beardsleys and Bosworth Solicitors, otherwise affectionately known as 'Woolley Bees'. Inspired by the 'Bees' Ruth and the team decorated the tree beautifully with knitted, crocheted and ceramic versions of bees.

There were lots of fantastic trees, decorated by local businesses, schools, community groups and youth groups. It was brilliant to see the displays of creativity and we highly recommend a visit next year!

All of the trees were put to the community vote and we were pleased to be awarded 2nd place in the adult class category.

All Saints Parish Church, Loughborough

Once again we're supporting our neighbours at the All Saints with Holy Trinity Church at their Christmas Tree Festival, with a tree beautifully decorated by our Reception Team.

There are some fantastic trees on display from the local community so if you get a moment, why not go along and take a look before the festival ends in early January.
