Hello

As we move into the second quarter of 2024 we're pleased to report good progress across our businesses as we continue to improve and enhance our service to you.  The roll-out of our new Personal Financial Portal is going well, and lots of our clients have told us that they are finding it helpful. It's a great way to see all of your finances at a glance, update your details, and send us a message or important document in a secure way. If you've not been introduced to the Portal yet, we'll be discussing it at your next Progress Meeting.

If you have funds invested with us it's likely that you will be making use of one of our recommended portfolios. In our last 'Investment Briefing' in November we talked about the likelihood of significant growth in the period to come. Since then values have risen by over 10% on average, for all of the reasons we described. Whilst we all know that past performance shouldn't be used as a guide to the future, with future falls in the inflation rate and interest rates looking likely, our portfolios are well positioned to benefit from future growth.

With only a couple of days of the tax year remaining, hopefully all of your tax planning is in place for this year. One thing you might consider, though, is a gift to our Foundation? If you're a higher rate taxpayer, not only does the Foundation benefit by being able to reclaim basic tax relief on your gift, but you'll also get a further tax credit on your self-assessment return that will reduce your tax bill by a further 20% (or 25% if you're paying the top rate of income tax). There's a link below to make your gift, and you can be certain that your money will be well spent to assist worthwhile projects in our local area.

This month we've got a mix of articles to share with you. In our first post Jenny met with one of our Financial Planners, Ross, to find out more about a new initiative he's got involved with to bring the benefits of financial advice to students and schoolchildren. Our second article gives our top tax tips for self employed people this year from our professional accounting team. Our final article is all about Two Factor Authentication - what is it and why is it important? We hope you find it helpful.

We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter. If you have any news you'd like to share, or topics you'd like us to write about please do get in touch.
